| Description | The Springfield (MA) Republican Sept. 19, 1866, says on Friday the Dartmouth College base-ball club won the championship of New Hampshire by beating the Kearsarge club of Concord 38 to 7. Bartlett, "Dartmouth Athletics" p. 9 says that Dartmouth organized a BBC is October 1865. Pender, "Athletics at Dartmouth" p. 31 has a photo of the 1866 team. And that this 1865 team is the first college-sponsored BBC. By 1869 they had a Delphic BBC. The college is located in Hanover, NH. |
