The Altoona Tribune, April 10, 1862, under the headline "A Base Ball Club" says a BBC has been organized in that town, and equipment purchased. Membership costs $1.00.
The Mountain club of Altoona played the Keystone of Harrisburg that August. See Harrisburg. An 1863 game against the Philadelphia Athletics was played on the Altoona home grounds on "Prospect Hill." Prospect Hill is in Altoona's 4th Ward. A Prospect Hill Park is today at 15th and Bell.
