Description

The Harrisburg Pennsylvania Daily Telegraph, June 28, 1862: "Base Ball Club--a number of our leading citizens met at the depot of the Pennsylvania railroad, in this city, last evening, and organized a base ball club, by electing the following officers: President, Samuel D. Young..."

Same, Aug. 21, 1862 reports that recently the Keystone Club of Harrisburg defeated the Mountain Club of Altoona. Gives a box score. Said elsewhere to be the first base ball game played in PA outside Philadelphia [which is not true].

The Keystone Club of Harrisburg PA is listed in Peverelly [1866].

Win/Loss Records As Far As We Now Know

Warning: Users should not rely on a team's won-loss record as a reflection of its "standing" among all base ball clubs. Team schedules were not balanced, and a good record against mostly weak opponents does not signify a leading club.
