Description	From Saratoga, at the age of twelve, I was transferred to a school at Stockbridge, Mass., under the direction of a very capable  instructor, Mr. Jared Curtis, or, as he was always called, Major Curtis. In what service he had won his military rank I never knew.  In this school the scholastic influences were, I think, less potent with me than at Saratoga; but those which proceeded from contact  with “the other fellows” were exceedingly energetic. We certainly found a great deal of time for out-door sports, and this was divided  between base-ball, driveball, one, two, and three hole-cat, hop-scotch, and marbles.
