Description | Town ball was played here in 1860. The Canal Mills were at 821-829 Canal, described in an Evansville history website as being on the southeast side of the canal between 8th and 9th Streets. Gilbert's History of Evansville p. 106-107 describes an early field as: "a large vacant common which now is filled up by Chandler Avenue, Blackford Avenue and Mulberry street." |
