Naperville won, 38 to 31. The game was played the Friday before (July 29th). A box score was included. The grounds were described as half a mile south of town, in a low green valley near the canal. The Chicago Tribune, Sept. 17, 1870 reports that the Forest Citys of Chicago beat the Marble City Club of Lemont 23 to 9, in five innings. Win/Loss Records As Far As We Now Know
Warning: Users should not rely on a team's won-loss record as a reflection of its "standing" among all base ball clubs. Team schedules were not balanced, and a good record against mostly weak opponents does not signify a leading club.
