Description | "One rare early description of a game by that name comes in a diary entry from 1817, published in 1829, but the passage is less clarifying than one might wish. On April 4, young Samuel Parris of Kingston, MA, reported playing “goal ball.” One of the players “stood before the goal,” he wrote. “I told him several times to get out of the way, but he would not. I happened one time to get the ball, and threw it at the goal, and he standing before it, it hit him in the eye.”" |
