Description

The Columbia Spy, Aug. 4, 1866, under the heading "Base Ball," notes Columbia has the Shawnee and Columbia BBCs.

The Lancaster Intelligencer, Aug. 1, 1866: "Base Ball--Our Columbia friends are enthusiastic in Base Ball matters. They have two first class clubs." The Shawnee Club, George Young Jr., president and the Columbia Club, Col. Philip Gossler, president.

Harrisburg Patriot, Oct. 18, 1866, has a long article on the state baseball convention. Among the clubs sending delegates was the Columbia BBC of Columbia.

Columbia PA (current pop. about 10,000) is about 75 miles W of Philadelphia in southern PA.
