Description | The Harrisburg (PA) Patriot, Sept. 8, 1868, runs a Sept. 7th item from Louisville, KY saying "A match game of base ball will be played at New Albany next Wednesday afternoon [the 9th] between the Falls City of this city and one of the New Albany clubs." The Louisville Courier-Journal, Oct. 1, 3, 5, 1866 reports games between the New Albany BBC, and Louisville teams. Oct. 1 says New Albany beat the Resolute of Louisville 44-32. Oct. 5 says they played the West End Club of Louisville at the New Albany (Floyd County) Fair Grounds. New Albany Daily Commercial, Sept. 3, 6, 10, 1866 says the New Albany BBC was just formed with John T. Creed, president. Same Sept. 10, 1867 reports that the city's clubs were consolidated into the New Albany BBC. New Albany IN is about five miles NW of Louisville KY. It had 12,647 residents in 1860, making it the state's 2nd largest city. |
