Description | The Columbia Spy, Aug. 4, 1866, under the heading "Base Ball," notes Columbia has the Shawnee and Columbia BBCs. The Lancaster Intelligencer, Aug. 1, 1866: "Base Ball--Our Columbia friends are enthusiastic in Base Ball matters. They have two first class clubs." The Shawnee Club, George Young Jr., president and the Columbia Club, Col. Philip Gossler, president. The National BBC of York defeated the Shawnee of Columbia 59-11. York Gazette, Aug. 28, 1866.
