Description | The Pacific Commercial Advertiser, Jan. 13, 1883, says that on Jan. 1st there was a baseball game between the Kahului and Wailuku teams, with Kahului winning. Both towns are on the Island of Maui. There may have been a baseball team in Wailuku as early as 1877. The Ka Lahui Hawaii, April 5, 1877 (a Hawaiian language newspaper) mentions the "Hekuawa [Valley] Base Ball Club" mai [near?] Wailuku. Wailuku had 4,500 residents in 1866. |
