Description | Wilson's 1905 History of Coles County, Illinois contains an 1889 letter from Isiah H. Johnson, who reminiscences about playing town ball and bull pen with his mates at the Dryden School in Lerna (then, Muddy Point). Johnston was born in 1826: the schoolmates he mentions were born 1824-29. I deduce the year to be the late 1830s. |
