Description Bathgate, "Colonial Experiences" p. 23 (1874) reports a cricket grounds and a golf grounds in Dunedin. Regarding golf, while their were ads urging the formation of a golf club (see Otsego Daily Times, Sept. 18, 1863) the first golf was played on Caversham, Dunedin Sept. 16, 1871, by individuals who soon formed the Dunedin (Otsego) golf club. Dunedin was settled by Scots.
