Description | The Harvard Independent, July 17, 1867: "... the Harvard Base Ball Club played two games since our last [issue], one with the Marengo Star Base Ball Club, and one with the Woodstock Base Ball Club--and were defeated at each game. Our club was organized two weeks ago last Monday...". Same, May 15, 1867, Marengo item asserts "Base Ball is all the rage here now. We have two Base Ball Clubs here..." The Belvidere Standard, June 11, 1867 reports that the Phoenix of Belvidere beat Marengo 60-29. Presumably this club is the Star. The Woodstock Sentinel, May 2, 1867 reports the formation of the Star BBC of Marengo. Same, May 9, 1867 reports that Marengo has two bbcs, the Star and the Marengo. |
