Description | The Springfield Daily Illinois State Register, July 23, 1883 reports that the R. & B. BBC of Taylorville defeated the Ravens at Pana 8-5. Same June 24, 1884, mentions the Taylorville Active BBC playing the Beardstown Reds at Beardstown. Taylorville is southeast of Springfield. There was probably baseball played in this city prior to 1883. It had 2,237 residents in 1880. |
