The Chicago Tribune, Aug. 1, 1866: "A match game of base ball will be played between the second nine Pioneers and the first nine Athletic Base Ball Club on the Amateurs' grounds, corner of Twenty-Ninth street and Michigan avenue this afternoon at 2-1/2 o'clock."

Trib Aug. 17, 1865 says this club was a recently organized junior club.
