Description

A match game of base-ball was played on yesterday evening between the Westham Club, of Sidney, and the Manchester Alerts. Owing to the approach of darkness the game was called at the end of the seventh inning. The score stood: Alerts 62, Westham 52. This is the second time the Manchester boys have defeated this club. After the game, the victors were served to a magnificent supper by the Sidney boys.

Comment

The only "Sidney" in greater Virginia is Sidney, West Virginia, which is at the extreme western end of the state on the Ohio border.  This seems an unlikely home base for the visitors, especially since Westham is an unincorporated town in Henrico County just outside Richmond.
