Description | The book "Chenoa Community Centennial" (1954), p. 133, says the Lone Star Base Ball Club of Chenoa was organized May 1, 1867, with 35 members. J. D. Payne was president. The Chicago Tribune, June 6, 1867 reports that at Chenoa the Lone Star 3rd nine got beat 53-51 by the Atlantic Jrs. Chenoa was founded in 1854 and had 1063 pop. in 1880. The Chicago Tribune, July 27, 1867, has an extensive article on the State base ball convention. Among the clubs sending delegates was the Lone Star of Chenoa. |
