Description | The Pacific Commercial Advertiser, Jan. 5, 1892, reports on a game Christmas 1891 at Lahaina between the Luaehus and the Lahainalunas, won the the former 19-9. Gives a roster of both teams, who are mostly of Polynesian ancestry. Lahainaluna was a school in Lahaina. Same May 5, 1892 has the Lahaina BBC defeating the "Lahaina boys" 9 to 8 on April 30th. Lahaina was a historic stop for whaling ships, and at one time a US naval base. It had 3,581 residents in 1866, and 2113 in 1890. |
