Same June 27, 1875 says the Juveniles of Palatine played the Juveniles of Arlington Heights. Arlington Heights is today a northwest suburb of Chicago. Early games were played "where Pate's feed and coal house now stands, and southwest of the track" [between Ridge and Vail, approx. where the modern Jewel Osco is]. The town was known as Dunton until 1874. It had 1,424 residents in 1890, and an estimated 600 residents in 1870. |
