Description

The Chicago Tribune, June 25, 1863 has an ad for a picnic of the Chicago Musician's Union which features "base ball and quoits." The picnic is at "Forest Bay," just south of Waukegan.

Same July 21, 1862 says that on the 24th the St. John's Sunday School picnic  will feature base ball and cricket.

Forest Bay farm was on the lake, 1.25 miles south of what was then Waukegan, to the east of modern Oakwood Cemetery, on lands owned by Elisha S. Wadsworth. It is today part of Waukegan.
