Description In a September 20, 1867, article about the upcoming fair, The Caledonian (St. Johnsbury, VT) references how "round ball" was played "thirty years ago":We are requested to state that a party of elderly gentlemen from a neighboring town propose to play a game of old fashioned "round ball" on the grounds, just to show the people the difference between the old game as played thirty years ago, and the modern base ball. We have no doubt this game will be one of the interesting features of the day.
