Description | The Chicago Inter Ocean, July 15, 1888, reports that a "base ball match" was played at a picnic in Des Plaines. The Chicago Tribune, July 8, 1888 reports that the Des Plaines nine defeated the Park Ridge boys 11-10. Baseball probably was played in Desplaines (the old spelling) prior to 1888, seeing as how the surrounding towns had baseball games in the 1870s. |
