Description | The New York Mercury, July 29, 1860, reported on several Massachusetts games. On the 20th, on the grounds of the Excelsior of Upton, the Hassanamisco of Grafton defeated the Green Mountain Club of Milford, 75-40. Same issue says that on the 25th the Orient [Orion] of Milford played. This club may have existed as early as 1856. The Boston Herald April 29, 1856 reports that Boston's Olympic Club has been challenged by the "Green Mountain Boys." Same June 1, 1857 says the Olympic has been challenged by the Green Mountain Base Ball Club." |
