Description

In 1863 this Garden City BBC played the Empire BBC of Freeport a 3-game series for a "state championship." See The Chicago Tribune, July 10, Aug. 13, 1863

The New York Clipper, Sept. 22, 1865, mentions the "Garden City Club, Chicago".

The Chicago Tribune, July 27, 1867 article on the state baseball convention, has as one of the represented teams the "Garden City Club, Chicago--J. J. Kearney and B. Mackey" (delegates).

The early nickname for Chicago was the "Garden City."
