The Gallipolis Journal, May 28, 1868: "The Gallia Club came of victorious in the match game, played last week, with the Valley Club, of Charleston, the score standing 62 to 32."

Same Sept. 20, 1866 reports formation of the Gallia BBC.

The club nickname reflects the French origin of the city, and of Gallia County.

Same, July 9, 1868, has the Gallia Club defeating the Enterprise of Middleport 42-36, and gives a box score.
