The Chicago Tribune, July 27, 1867, has an extensive article on the State base ball convention. Among the clubs sending delegates were the "Elgin Club of Elgin." The two delegates from this club were D. R. Bock and W. A. Pratt. William A. Pratt (1844-1901) developed "Trout Park" in Elgin, later the site of the Elgin Kittens Base Ball Club. In 1870 this club played the touring Baltic Jrs. of Chicago. Same, Aug. 2, 1870. By 1875 the Bluff City BBC played for the championship of Kane County. See Chicago Tribune, July 18, 1875. |

Win/Loss Records As Far As We Now Know
Warning: Users should not rely on a team's won-loss record as a reflection of its "standing" among all base ball clubs. Team schedules were not balanced, and a good record against mostly weak opponents does not signify a leading club.
