Description | The Pike County Democrat (of Pittsfield), Sept. 26, 1867 reports that three baseball nines are expected to play at the county fair: those of Griggsville, Winchester and Mt. Sterling. According to the Persis index, the Versailles Area Genealogical and Historical Newsletter, Summer 2002, has an article on a base ball team established in Mt. Sterling in 1876. |
