Description | The Bloomington Pantagraph, Oct., 5, 1870 reports that the Ireland's Grove Sunday School club beat the base ball club of Benjaminville 34-9 last Sunday (Oct. 1). Says the latter club had been in existence about 2 years. The winners, a new team. Benjaminville was founded in 1856 as a quaker settlement. It is now a ghost town. Near present day Holder and Bentown in Tazewell County. Ireland Grove was 5-6 miles east of Bloomington, according to old newspapers. |
