Description

"Last evening" the Capital BBC was organized: W. A. Turney, president, Col. George H. Harlow, VP, and J. T. Pratt, Secretary. Named for the Capital Railway.

Robert D. Sampson, "Fields of Battle: The Problem of Base Ball Playing Space in Post Civil War Illinois," Journal of the Illinois State Historical Society, vol. 110 Nos 3/4 (2017), 283-304, has a lot on this club and its members.

Springfield (IL) Daily Register, 5/16/1866.  The paper's 5/21/1866 and 6/5/1866 editions note that "The first regular meeting of the Capital Base Ball Club will be held in the Supreme Court rooms in the state house."
