Description | This was a Civil War training and POW camp located between Cottage Grove Avenue and present-day Martin Luther King Drive, between present-day East 31st Street and East 33rd Place (then College Place). It was established in 1861. The Excelsiors, Jr., "Comet" and "Eastman" clubs, among others, played there postwar. Confederate POWs played while the war was still going on. |
