Description | The Selma Times and Messenger, Oct. 13, 1867 reports that the Central City BBC will play the Athletic BBC on the 17th. Same, Oct. 18 gives a box score of the game, won by the Central City 72-59. In 1868 the two teams merged to form the Mutual. The 1868 Alabama state baseball meeting featured delegates from the Athletic and Central clubs of Selma. [Mobile Register, April 27, 1868] Selma AL (1870 pop. about 6500) is about 80 miles S of Birmingham and 45 miles E of Montgomery. |
