Text | "I have a handwritten journal kept by a young boy for the years 1835 and 1836. This young man grew up to be a person of note in Connecticut but that is not what I am writing about. On the very first page of his two year journal, actually the very first sentence he states, 'this morning I painted my stick.' A few sentences later me mentions that he 'played base ball til noon.' He was 11 years old when he wrote this and ther are other mentions of base ball and his stick here and there and generically playing with the boys. There is no description of how they played the game. . . "Respectfully, Ed Cohen" |
