Innings 7 Game called after 7 due to darkness
Description

The Miami Metropolis, Sept. 25, 1896, reports on "The Baseball Game.... The Steamfitters and Plumbers met again on the diamond..." with the former winning 31-27. The game was called after 7 innings on account of darkness. Evidently the ump's decisions were often questioned, not because he was partial, but becasue the playing field was overgrown and had no distinct foul lines he could judge by.

Same Oct. 2, 1896 reports that the Painters beat the Plumbers 18-17. For this game, the field was cleared of brush.
