Description | The Chicago Tribune, Oct. 19, 1872 reports that the Actives of Chicago are to play the Kidder Club of Grand Crossing. The Chicago Inter Ocean, May 30, 1876, reports that the newly organized South Chicago club intend to play "the club at Grand Crossing to test the championship." A "Wilson's Nine" of Grand Crossing played in Peotone in 1877. See Peotone. The team lost to the "Oly Browns" of South Chicago in 1879. Grand Crossing, then a suburb, was later annexed by Chicago and is now a neighborhood on Chicago's south side. |
