Description	The Columbus Daily Enquirer, Oct. 26, 1870, “Fun at the Fair: We also learn that the Atlanta, West Point, and Montgomery Base Ball Clubs will contest with the Independents of our city for the premium offered to the best “base ballists.”” The county, located about 170 miles SW of Atlanta and about 80 miles W of Savannah, had a population of about 3500 in 1870.
