Description

1896...First baseball game is reported to have been held on John Calhoun’s cow pasture near the mouth of Gold Creek. 

A Calhoun Dairy was in early Juneau. Gold Creek is on the north side of modern Juneau, along with a Calhoun Road.

Comment

Johanson, "The Golden Days of Baseball" says that Juneau's first ball field was located where the high school now is.
