The Chicago Daily Inter Ocean, June 14, 1877, reports that the Union Park School of Chicago will hold its annual picnic next Saturday at Mt. Forest, with "croquet, base ball and refreshments" being among the attractions.

There was a bbc in Mt. Forest in 1889. See Chicago Inter Ocean, July 7, 1889.

Mt. Forest was a community located in what is today Willow Springs. It had 100 residents in 1880. It incorporated as Spring Forest in 1892. Name changed to Willow Springs in 1937.
