Description | The Harvard Independent, July 17, 1867: "... the Harvard Base Ball Club played two games since our last [issue], one with the Marengo Star Base Ball Club, and one with the Woodstock Base Ball Club--and were defeated at each game. Our club was organized two weeks ago last Monday..." The Woodstock Sentinel, May 16, 1867 reports that the young men of Woodstock are thinking of forming a base ball club. Same, May 30, 1867 says the Woodstock BBC was formed May 15th. Gives a roster of the officers and team. M. C. Johnson was chosen president. Same, July 4, 1867 has the box score of a game between the Marengo BBC and Woodstock, won by Marengo 56-44. The May 30 1867 report says the club will play on the Agricultural [County Fair] grounds in Woodstock. |
