Description | The Chicago Inter Ocean, Oct. 26, 1869, reports that the Diana Club, composed of female students of Northwestern U. Seminary, have been challenged by a junior boys club, the Baltic. For more on this club, see Chronology 1869c.4. The Chicago Evening Post, Oct. 20, 1869, has a long detailed article on how the female students of French and English have each formed a baseball nine. See the attached clipping. "W. P. Jones" had been the president of the "Northwestern Female College" (see Chicago Tribune, July 2, 1863). |
