Description

The Wilmington Journal, Nov. 29, 1866, reports that the University Club of Chapel Hill is to play the Pioneer Club of Raleigh. Raleigh Tri Weekly Standard, Dec. 1, 1866, under the heading "Base Ball"--reports that these two teams played, and the University won. Gives the names of the players on both teams.

The Raleigh Weekly Progress, Dec. 6, 1866, headlined this game as being for the state championship. The Universit Club won, 94-69. The game was played at Boylan's Old Field.
