Description | The History of Dubuque County, p. 148, note that in June 1863 the Fourth Ward played the Third Ward in baseball, winning. Cites the Dubuque Herald, June 9, 1863. Later that year the Up-Town and Down-Town teams played baseball, first at the race track, then at the circus grounds near the Third Ward Schoolhouse. This schoolhouse was at Clay (now Central) and 12th Streets. The modern address would be near where the Prescott School now stands. |
