Description

The Cedar Falls Gazette, July 3, 1863, has an article titled "The Fourth at home" in which they promise a fourth of July celebration that will include "fire crackers, greased pole, base ball, in fact almost everything that will cheer but not inebriate."

Same, April 10, 1863 says that townspeople have played baseball during the recent "pleasant weather."
