Description | The Chicago Inter Ocean, Aug. 6, 1877, reports on "A Temperance Picnic" at Taylor's Grove, in South Chicago, which featured "croquet-playing, base ball, etc." Same June 21, 1879: "South Chicago. The Oly Browns and the Grand Crossing base ball nines met at Brown's Mills, and the score stood--Brown's 22, Grand Crossing, 10." Brown's Iron Mills was a local business. |
