Description

The young men of Marshall, appreciating our efforts to get up a readable local paper, have decided to contribute their mite toward furnishing items, and as the best means of doing so have organized a base ball club. The ground has been staked off, and one or two games played just to get their hands in. In order to have mishaps written up in the best style, victims of broken thumbs, eyes gouged out, etc. will please present themselves at this office as soon as possible after the accident occurs, and we promise to serve them in the capacity of reporter to the best of our ability.

paper of Thursday, July 9th, 1874 gives an account of a game the previous Saturday (July 4th) between the Saratoga BBC and the Marshall BBC with Saratoga a 52-42 win......
