Description | The Chicago Tribune, July 27, 1867, has an extensive article on the State base ball convention. Among the teams sending delegates were the Crescent of Sycamore. The Sycamore True Republican, May 25, 1870 has an article and box score of a game played at Sycamore "last Friday" in which the Prairie Club of Riley beat the Crescent of Sycamore 39-27. The Chicago Tribune, July 17, 1870, has a long letter to the editor from the Potter Palmer club of Chicago, complaining that at a recent game against the Crescents of Sycamore, the Palmers left the field even though they were winning, to protest "the most outrageously unfair umpiring, the stupidity or knavery of which was not exceeded even by the notorious Philadelphia arrangement." |
