Description | Weiser, "Glen Ellyn," pp. 48-49, relates a humorous reminiscence of Charles Cooper, an early Glen Ellyn (then Danby) resident, who formed the Rustics team in 1867. The Rustics then went to Bloomingdale to play their local team. After getting a 50-0 lead after 6 innings, the Bloomingdale team invited the Rustics for refreshments, and got so many of them intoxicated on [allegedly] "spiked" cider that Bloomingdale almost came back to win! |
