Description | The Chicago Tribune, July 27, 1867, has an extensive article on the State base ball convention. Among the clubs sending delegates was the Vermillion of Danville. The Champaign County Gazette, Oct. 19, 1870 reports that the Vermillions played the Haymakers in Philo and the Eagles of Champaign, losing both times, and that the Eagles are going to play them in Danville soon. Danville, in Vermilion County, had 4,751 residents in 1870. |
