Description | The Miami Metropolis, Sept. 11, 1896 reports a game between the plumbers and steamfitters teams, employees of the new Royal Palm Hotel. The Steamfitters won 19-18. Same Oct. 2, 1896 says the ballgrounds extended as far as 12th St. Looking at old and modern maps, it's probable that the game was played just north of the hotel, in a lot that later became "Palm Park" and is about where the modern Bayfront Park is. 12th St. has been renamed. |
