Description | The Daily Missouri Democrat, Sept. 10, 1868 reports that the Dirigo Club of St. Louis are to play the Bluff City Club of Belleville. Daily Missouri Republican Aug. 16, 1868 says the Stars of Alma recently beat the Bluffs of Belleville. Are thee separate teams? See below. St. Louis Globe Democrat Aug. 16, 1875 mentions the Bluffs of WEST Belleville (which at the time was a separate town). Belleville had 8,146 residents in 1870. In 1882 it merged with West Belleville (west of Richland Creek--1870 pop. 1,079). |
